The directors of Batgirl, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, expressed their shock and disappointment over the termination of the movie.

It was stated that Warner Bros. Discovery will not produce a theatrical or HBO Max release of Batgirl. 

A day following this unexpected outcome, a group of filmmakers who created the project issued a statement.

The film's directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, wrote on Instagram, "We are heartbroken and astonished by the news. 

It's still difficult for us to accept. Even though the film wasn't nearly finished, we wanted audiences from all around

the world to have the opportunity to watch and appreciate the final product since it is essential for filmmakers 

to have their work seen by audiences. Perhaps they will in the future, insha'Allah.

They gave thanks to the cast and crew and lauded their efforts in making Batgirl a reality. 

They commended Leslie Grace for playing Batgirl, praising her fervour, dedication, and humanity in the role. 

Leslie Grace played Barbara Gordon/Batgirl and Michael Keaton played Batman in the movie Batgirl. 

In any event, as huge fans of Batman since we were little children, it was a privilege and an honour to have been a part of the DCEU, 

even if it was for a brief period of time. "A Batgirl for life," they declared.

Warner Bros explained the decision to shelve the $90 million film in a statement. According to a Warner Bros. 

statement, the decision to hold off on releasing Batgirl "reflects our leadership's strategy shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max."

On her Instagram page, Leslie also left a message for her group of friends. 

She concluded by saying, "THANK YOU for the love and belief that allowed me to don the cape and become, 

as Babs put it best, "my own damn hero! "," to every Batgirl supporter. 

She also expressed gratitude to her dedicated crew for their efforts.
