"Lightyear" was the first Pixar movie to hit theatres in two years. After a month and a half, it eventually makes its Disney+ streaming service debut.

Starting today, August 3, subscribers can watch the "Toy Story" spin-off at home.

The fact that some of these scenes are in the IMAX enlarged aspect ratio makes this the first Disney and Pixar animated film on Disney+ significant.

With IMAX Enhanced, the film has the company's exclusive Expanded Aspect Ratio, which gives spectators access to up to 26% more picture for some

of the film's most important scenes without the need for any specialised technology. This suggests that there is more activity visible on your screen.

Disney and Pixar's "Lightyear" will be the first IMAX Enhanced animated film to premiere on Disney+, the film's director,

Angus MacLane, said in a statement. We were able to provide a better viewing experience for "Lightyear" audiences in theatres,

at home, and anywhere else by utilising IMAX technology throughout the whole filmmaking process.

"Lightyear" is one of the 15 Marvel movies accessible on Disney+ in IMAX Enhanced. There are plenty of them,

including "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Avengers: Endgame," "Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings," and others.

Chris Evans plays Buzz Lightyear, the space ranger from Andy's favourite childhood movie, in the animated movie.

In contrast to the other Toy Story films, "Lightyear" focuses on Buzz the human and his journey to reach Earth after getting lost with his commander and crew on a dangerous planet.

By accident, he travels 62 years into the future, when the world was ruled by the ruthless Emperor Zurg (James Brolin), assisted by his robotic army.

There were several misconceptions regarding the connections between "Lightyear" and the other four "Toy Story" films.

This could be the reason the new movie wasn't as successful as Pixar had hoped. It was essentially a box office failure with only $222.4 million in total worldwide income,

or around $20 million more than its claimed budget. In contrast, "Toy Story 3" and "Toy Story 4" brought in over $1 billion at the box office.

It is hoped that "Lightyear" will perform better on Disney+ than it did in theatres since it will have scenes in IMAX's Expanded Aspect Ratio.
