There will, in fact, be a "Joker" sequel to the well-liked 2019 film. The blockbuster's director,
Todd Phillips, shared a first peek at the official sequel script on his Instagram on June 7.
The film stars Joaquin Phoenix. The screenwriters Phillips and Scott Silver, who first collaborated
on the Oscar-winning first "Joker" film's screenplay, will once more work together
on the sequel, titled "Joker: Folie à Deux."
Phoenix appears to be reading the script in the photo Phillips released
along with the announcement of the eagerly anticipated film,
which signals he will reprise his title role in the sequel (which Variety later confirmed.)
We also know who well-known pop star will be joining the cast (hint: she has already collaborated with the "Joker" director).
"Joker" made a significant impression when it was released in 2019, earning a staggering $1.07 billion worldwide and
receiving 12 Oscar nominations. The award for best actor went to Joaquin Phoenix, and
the award for best original score went to Hildur Gudnadottir.
