Viewers of "Grey's Anatomy" are aware that Ellen Pompeo's character Meredith Grey plays a significant role in the show.

We'll see a lot less of Dr. Grey in the upcoming season, according to Variety, due of her involvement in a brand-new,

as-of-yet-untitled Hulu drama based on real events. Despite how lovely it will be to watch Pompeo in a new role,

she will only appear in eight of the forthcoming 19 episodes of the ABC series' 19th season.

She will however continue to narrate each episode and serve as one of the show's executive producers.

All that is currently known about her potential part is that eight episodes of a drama about a Midwestern family who

unintentionally adopt an 8-year-old girl with a rare form of dwarfism have been given the green light by Hulu.

But as they begin to question her identity, their own relationships break down as they come to believe that

she might not be who she claims to be. Along with acting in the drama, Pompeo also acts as its executive producer

alongside Katie Robbins from "The Affair," Erin Levy from "Mad Men," and a few other members of

her Calamity Jane production company. So, despite Meredith Grey's possible decrease in appearances this season,

Ellen Pompeo's career is still very much alive.
