In Marvel’s “Black Panther 2,” the emotional homecoming to Wakanda and battle with Namor are depicted in the first teaser.
Marvel takes viewers back to Wakanda in the first trailer for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
The trailer uses the lyrical concept of “We going to be ok” from Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” as it transitions between images of Wakanda’s aquatic environs, cutting-edge technology.
“I am Queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone,” Ramonda, played by Angela Bassett, explains.
Who will succeed Black Panther in the title? This uncertainty looms over the trailer. The hero’s costume can be seen on a figure at the very end of the trailer, though it is not made clear who is wearing it.
The film was unveiled toward the close of Saturday night’s massive Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The panel had been preceded by a fanfare played by a group of traditional African musicians.
Ryan Coogler, the writer-director of the first “Black Panther,” then addressed on stage about the sequel while mourning the loss of Chadwick Boseman, the show’s original lead. Boseman, who played the lead role in T’Challa, died in August 2020 after a four-year, personal battle with colorectal cancer.
Although it will be difficult, Coogler continued, “We’ll try.” It’s been five years since I last visited. I was sitting close to the late great Chadwick Boseman, who played our T’Challa, as the first trailer for “Black Panther 1” debuted.
According to Coogler, Boseman squeezed his shoulder while seeing the opening sequence. I swear to you, I can already feel his hand on me.
Coogler also revealed some specifics regarding the sequel, saying that it will “go to new locales in Wakanda that we haven’t seen before and it goes to new places in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Director Ryan Coogler then presented the “Black Panther” ensemble on the Comic-Con stage, including Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, and Lupita Nyong’o.
“It’s a labour of love, and I have so much gratitude to be a part of it and be able to share it with you,” Duke said of the follow-up.
It’s advantageous. We’ve all grown up so much as a family, so it feels fantastic to see you guys and honour big bro at the same time, Wright said.
The panel also included series newcomers Michaela Coel, Dominique Thorne, Alex Nivilani, Mabel Cadena, and Tenoch Huerta. Huerta will portray Namor, the Submariner, a well-known figure from Marvel Comics, in the film.
Huerta emphasised his joy and delight about being there. “I want to make a fast statement about inclusivity. I came from the neighbourhood, but inclusion led me here. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for inclusivity. Many neighbourhood kids are present, dreaming of being there. They’ll also be successful! They will be successful!
Fantastic musical performance to kick off the panel. It reminded me of what an honour it was to support this cast.
Wright claimed that the new film offers “an unbelievable respect” to the late actor in a May interview with Variety where he also emphasised the devastating impact that actor Boseman’s passing had on the group.
By putting our all into the story he created and the legacy he began with this series, we paid tribute to him, claims Wright. The filmmaker said, “We just committed to working hard every day, regardless of the problems we encountered—which we did—but we came together as a team and gave this film everything we had, so I’m delighted for you to watch it.
On November 11, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” will have its national theatrical debut.
