‘Disco King,’ Bappi Da Goodbye: When Bappi Lahiri went to the hospital one day after returning home, he had been battling a dangerous sickness for a year.

Bappi Lahiri, called “Disco King” in India, was born in 1952 to a family with a long history in classical music in Calcutta, West Bengal. At the age of 19, he began his profession as a music director. His father, Aparesh Lahiri, was a well-known Bengali vocalist, and his mother, Bansari Lahiri, was a musician and singer with a strong background in classical music and Shyama Sangeet.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, they were well-known for soundtracks such as Disco Dancer, Namak Halal, and Dance Dance, which helped to better integrate synthesised disco music with Indian cinema.

These flicks include ‘Chalte Chalte,’ ‘Disco Dancer,’ and ‘Sharaabi.’ ‘Bhankas,’ his most recent Bollywood single, was released in 2020 for the film ‘Baaghi 3.’
A BJP politician, Biplab Deb, expressed his condolences for his death. ‘He introduced disco to India and revolutionised Indian music,’ Deb told Ku Post. His music will always have a place in our hearts.
