Be A Leader Not A Follower

Be A Leader Not A Follower

Most people are content to follow in others’ footsteps, sit on the fence in a disagreement, or hide in the back of the class. Leaders who take control of their own fate by maintaining a positive attitude and working persistently to attain their goals are the most successful. We all have the potential to be leaders, and this essay can help you get there.

I used to be a very shy and timid person who lacked self-confidence. I didn’t like it, and I was envious of others who were willing to take care of their responsibilities and situations. Rather than the follower I had become, I hoped to be one of these leaders.

In my early twenties, I came to the conclusion that the time had come to make a series of life-altering decisions. I was determined to have a happy and successful life, and I realised that I needed to change my entire perspective and approach to life in order to do so.

I was unhappy with my job and decided to join an employment agency in the hopes of finding something better. I started up a conversation with a man who, like me, was looking for a new job in the agency’s reception area. We got along swimmingly and wished each other success in our job quest. His name was Mark, and we got along swimmingly. We even exchanged phone numbers and agreed to stay in touch and keep each other informed about our development.

After that, I was interviewed by a man who explained how he planned to help me get a new job. He was bright, witty, and optimistic, with a lot of innovative ideas. He was adamant that I would soon be hired by a new company that would be a better fit for my skills.

At one point during the conference, he proposed the possibility of a group interview. He speculated that we could be led into a large room with a massive table. As we sat down, a sheet of paper would be placed in front of us, requesting that the group debate a specific topic. He stated that everyone in the room would be in the same position as me, seeking for work and scared, but that in that room, I could be whoever I chose. He advised me that I needed to take the initiative by standing up and saying that I would be serving as chairman and that everyone having a comment should raise their hand. This would show that I am a leader to a potential employer.

I went home and thought about it, and since I wasn’t a leader, I didn’t think I had what it required to act the way he anticipated. Later that evening, Mark called, and all he talked about was the group interview situation. He also remarked that he would be unable to stand up in the manner depicted in the film.

Mark, on the other hand, was obliged to attend a group interview. Following the advice astounded him, and he commented that he had never felt so powerful and in charge since announcing his intention to be chairman. For the rest of the day, other members of the group had been interrogating him as if he were some sort of team leader. He was really pleased with himself, and I am happy to report that he aced his interview and is loving his new work.

He’s also used his achievements and learning to improve his social life, noting that he’s never felt more confident. I am overjoyed for him since he is a genuine person who works really hard. He’s also one of the few people in whom I have total trust.

Mark influenced me to seek a career assisting those who stutter in obtaining fluency. This is something I genuinely enjoy doing, and it gives me a lot of job satisfaction. I’m also happier than I’ve ever been, and I’m more confident than I’ve ever been.

Finally, each of us has the potential to lead. We must be courageous and resolute in order to reclaim control, and we must recognise that all we can do in life is try our hardest. Because we only have one life to live, let us be happy instead of settling for second best. Be a leader rather than a follower in life.
