Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyaan Movie Review

Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyaan Review: Neither the thrill of the tale nor the liveliness of the characters could create an effect like Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyaan.

Movie Review: The hopes raised by the Gehraiyaan trailer are drowned out by the film. The rest of the actors, with the exception of Deepika Padukone, are shown doing amateur work.

Gehraiyaan is a Hindi film starring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Alibaug se aaya hai kya, as the Maharashtra phrase goes. It is used to refer to someone as an idiot. A resident of Alibaug petitioned the Bombay High Court in 2019 to have the adage banned, but the court declined, stating that such things should not be insulted because of figures like Santa-Banta to all communities. Jokes are made, and it’s all in good fun. When it comes to Seeing the Depths (Gehraiyaan), one of two things appears to happen: either the writer-director is from Alibaug, or the entire audience is Alibaug. The trailer for this film, which was aired on Amazon Prime, piqued people’s interest because both of the film’s heroines were seen in bikinis on the beach and in intimate scenes with the lead hero. Believe me when I say that everything in the trailer is more or less in the movie. There’s nothing extra.

Let’s discuss about the plot now. So, here are some Bollywood movie clichés. Alisha (Deepika Padukone) has been living with Karan for eight years since she is unhappy with her life and work in Mumbai. His life is a daily struggle for him. It’s a rented property. There is no money, but ambitions abound. Tanya (Ananya Panday) and his fiancee Jane (Siddhant Chaturvedi) visit him in Mumbai from the United States. They are both billionaires. Jane works in real estate and is working on a project in Alibaug worth hundreds of crores that isn’t shown in the movie. The four of them travel to Alibaug to have a wonderful time. Alisha and Jane get near to each other while flirting there. The plot then descends into dullness and moves like a snail, attempting to stimulate the audience with kisses, hugs, and personal interactions. Alisha-Jane swears by real love, and Alisha gets pregnant as a result of it. Jane’s initiative, on the other hand, is experiencing obstacles. At any time, he could drown. How true will Alisha-love Jane’s prove to be in such a circumstance, or will new problems arise? Depths aims to delve into these topics.

There is nothing in the movie that the average public can relate to. Metro’s gimmicky characters, from ostentatious yachts to five-star hotels, pricey liquor, smooth bathtubs, padded beds, and multi-million dollar hi-fi chatter, sink rather than lift the film. The picture moves at a glacial pace, and the characters are constantly crying. One does not appear to have any life-energy. Alisha is constantly in a bad mood. Karan is an unemployed writer who sits at home. Jane’s self-assurance is phoney. Tanya is like a privileged young girl who has no ambitions in life. The backstory to all of this also doesn’t pique anyone’s interest. These individuals come from shattered households, and when they get together, they consume alcoholic beverages. Talking about nonsense.

The writers don’t succeed in bringing the characters to life, and they don’t come up with any compelling plot twists. It’s too late when the film’s only thrill-moment is born. Even after that, the writer-director was unable to adequately handle the storey. Alisha is the only character in the film who has any lasting impact. Deepika Padukone has delivered a stunning performance. When she sees them, she doesn’t appear to be leaving any stone unturned. Scene each scene, you can see her develop, and in the end, the depths are remembered just for Deepika’s performance.

It is without a doubt one of his best performances to date. Siddhant Chaturvedi, on the other hand, is a huge disappointment. He is incapable of attracting attention by his acting, gestures, or body language. Last year, he was in the same situation in Bunty Aur Babli 2. There isn’t a single scene in the movie where Ananya is shown to be effective. The writer-director put Dhairya Karva in fourth grade, and his role could not have arrived at a better moment than Ananya’s.

Without a doubt, the film was well-shot. The camera work is excellent, but it needed more tightening than the editing. The music is mediocre. Overall, the Gehraiyaan Movie (a little less than two and a half hours of depth) is such a film that, if you feel it very important, you can fast-forward through it. It does not return anything valuable in retaliation, no matter how long it takes. This is director Shakun Batra’s third picture in ten years, and even after seeing it, you won’t believe him.
